AboutMe

I'm a freelance journalist and independent researcher who specialises in combing declassified government files for stories.

I started my working life as a reporter on local newspapers and magazines before taking a job in The National Archives Press Office. I left at the start of 2014, after four years, to work as a freelance writer and researcher.

I recently completed a Masters degree in Historical Research at the University of London (Birkbeck).

If like many people, you're not able to visit the archives in person, or you don't know how to begin looking, I'm available to hire as a researcher to do the hard work for you. I am listed on The National Archives' website as an independent researcher, with a particular focus on new releases, intelligence and Foreign Office records.

My fees start at £30 per hour, or £150 per day, but can be negotiated depending on the length of the job.
